I am a new teacher, and came into a classroom where very negative things were posted (rules, penalties, etc.) I wanted to make things "upbeat". My bulletin board has a border with happy sheet music guys, and the slogan I used was "Music Makes Me Smile". Every day, I look in the newpaper and collect comics about music. There is usually one each day, sometimes 2 or 3. The kids love it, and some have brought me comics they have found from different sources. I use very bright colors--the letters are red, the border is multicolored and the background is yellow. This helps, because the comics are black and white, except for Sunday's.
