Tempos in the Snow

(submitted by Phyllis)

"I make a snow scene with a large slopping hill. I copy or cut pictures out of kids on sleds, some looking like they are really moving fast, and others looking slower. I arrange them randomly on the snow hill. Across the sky I have clouds or snowflakes with tempo names on them: largo, andante, adagio, etc.. AND (quarter note = 120)etc. too. A sign is held by a snowman that reads "What is their "rate of speed"? TEMPO!

The kids really enjoy matching them up. We also use these names to determine how fast or slow to leave the room at the end of class."
