Teachers everywhere are being encouraged to get their kids to
write more. This writing kit contains 10 print and pass out
writing prompts for your youngest students. Each prompt is
presented on handwriting lines using an easy to read font.
Students are required to write a few words or a couple of
sentences. This makes the kit versatile enough to use with
grades K-2. Each worksheet contains a space for students to draw
their response as well. When used in my classroom I
scheduled about 10 minutes for this activity. For longer
activities we would write our response one day (5-7 minutes) and
then draw our pictures during our next class time (another 5-7
minutes). Click
HERE for a
sample. This kit is presented as PDF files.

Each writing prompt in this kit uses information about a famous
composer. Students are asked to relate to composers'
experiences, imagine new musical possibilities and write about
personal experiences. Each of the ten prompts are included
on a separate sheet and are ready for you to print and pass out to
your classes. Click

Music Burger Kit $7.99
What's a Music Burger? Its the most delicious way to write about
music ever! This kit contains the bulletin board kit (pictured
above) with title letters and a title sheet, a Music Burger
worksheet and notes for teaching listening lessons using the Music
Burger. The Music Burger worksheet is a graphic organizer that
helps students write a paragraph about a listening selection using
music vocabulary. It works with any piece that you choose. The
listening/writing lesson can be used with students in 2nd grade
and up as the design allows for a variety of student responses at
varying levels. This kit contains PDF files in a zipped file.

Song parodies aren't just for Weird Al! Use this kit to
guide your students to write their own educational parody.
In this unit students sing a few parodies, choose from a
list of topics and tunes and write their own. This was
designed for students in third through sixth grades, but
could be useful to junior high students too. I allow
students to work with a partner for this project but it
can be used for individual work or even with larger
groups.
This kit includes:
1. A list of topics (like telling time, using manners,
spelling color words, etc...) and a list of possible tunes
to use (She'll Be Comin' 'Round the Mountain, Twinkle
Twinkle Little Star, etc...)
2. A sheet with 5 sample educational parodies to sing with
your class.
3. A rough draft sheet.
4. A final copy sheet
5. A suggested teaching sequence for this unit. I teach
this to 6th graders in two 50 minute periods. You may be
able to do it in three 30 class periods or less. I don't
assign homework so I always plan enough time in class for
students to finish projects.
The kit has some color elements in case you choose to
project some of the sheets, but all of the sheets
reproduce well in black and white.
This kit was designed with the music teacher in mind, but
could easily be used by an ELA teacher too.

introduced or reviewed. Did they display evidence of
comprehension on the exit tickets? Was it too easy? Can
you move faster next time?
